Hello everyone, I’d like to share an important story as your strategic business advisor in digital marketing.
RECENT Case Study:
Recently, one of our clients faced a distressing situation when their Facebook account was compromised by a hacker. The hacker went a step further by changing the associated email and mobile number, effectively locking the client out of their own company’s Facebook page.
WHAT TO DO:
To regain control, there are two critical information that was crucial:
- The original email used for registration.
- The original mobile number used for registration.
Unfortunately, even though our client could remember the email account but they could not remember the mobile number linked to their Facebook user account.
This lapse in information complicated matters, and we are currently awaiting Facebook’s response with fingers crossed. However, the odds of account recovery remain uncertain.
Key Takeaways:
- Password Security:
It’s important to strengthen your passwords. Our client’s choice of “companyname123” (example because they really used their company name in the password followed with 123) and this made it remarkably easy for the hacker to guess. PLEASE avoid such easily guessable passwords.Use stronger combinations like “Rthf$567” or something equally unique. - Securing Your Facebook:
Secure your Facebook account with two-factor authentication if you haven’t already. Additionally, make sure you retain clear records of the email and mobile number associated with your account. Losing this information can lead to permanent account loss. - Protecting Facebook Pages:
If you manage a Facebook page for your business, consider registering a separate Facebook user account solely for page management. This practice compartmentalizes access and reduces risks.
I encourage you all to take these lessons to heart as we navigate the digital landscape. Your online security matters.
